We are rapidly approaching the start of chaos, that being school and baseball. Why chaos? Well, it’s a never ending cycle of school stuff, practices and games. And like most parents, it’s a juggling act riddled with success and failures. And for us, this year is just hitting different. Our baby boy heads to high school at a new school.
So with two weeks to go, I’m desperately trying to milk every single second. First up, a hitting lesson with one of the coaches from Gloucester Catholic. Yes that school which produces state titles almost every year. The coach stopped to ask him his age and what school going. We ended the lesson with “we need to get him out of Delaware and to GC.”
So we may have a quasi country boy. The kid loves to fish and be outdoors. But this summer, he added Zach Bryan to his music rotation. At first I didn’t think much of it until Z encouraged me to look at his lyrics. And when I did, I soon realized this young guy is really good. So we happily sing his songs on the drive to practices.
This summer I’ve also had wildlife in the park while I run. This mama has two tiny little fawns with her.
Next week, Zachary starts his trek into high school orientation. We’re all a little nervous, you know that bundled apprehension mixed with anticipation that courses through your body. It’s all new in many ways. He’s blessed with tremendous opportunities. And while it’s never a smooth, straight path, we’re super excited to see where this journey takes him.
