Be still my beating heart. This week we celebrated two special days. Valentine Day was on Wednesday. I’m a lucky gal with two special boys in my life….well, technically three when you include my good ole boy but it seems someone else may have his heart.

On Thursday, Zachary did a really cool presentation at his school for Black History month. Actually, the entire 8th Grade put on a presentation for parents and other students. Zachary was Willie Mays. He did a great job with his monologue. What I noticed was how much fun he was having with his friends. I actually had a cool interaction with his teacher, Ms. Dumas. She’s tough but he’s gotten so much better with his writing and I let her know. When I mentioned Zachary, she said “he’s one of my high achievers.”

Last weekend, the weather was in the 50s so we headed to the local ball field. He’s not quite hitting home run distance but he’s getting closer. We also started this really cool tennis ball drop drill. The idea is to put your hands out and above the person dropping them and then having the reflexes to catch them. At first, he struggled but by last night he was routinely catching them. You have to have crazy fast movement to do. Tonight, another pitching lesson is on deck. Last week, he hit 74.6 off the mound with 18 degrees movement. It’s been fun watching his growth on and off the field.
