Well, it’s official my birthday weekend. Luckily, I get to spend it with my guys and at the ballpark. We have made it to the last tournament of baseball….and thankfully, the weather looks half decent. Not a bad way to spend my day, in my happy place, listening to the sounds of the game. I am eternally grateful that God put Zachary in our lives. No better gift could have been given.
Speaking of gifts, Zachary’s teachers seem to have conspired this week with tests, quizzes and projects. So when the boy told me on Sunday night (after stores had closed) that he needed a mini trifold, I just knew our week was going to be a handful. A trip to CVS in a storm, literally, and we were off on said project. And what, you may ask, is the project…a restaurant theme with different writing styles. Ever heard of the Magic 3, me neither, but the boy wrote one and I printed it out and cut it to size. Did I mention that art isn’t my thing and that weirdly I have no ability to cut a straight line…but there I was, on my birthday week, cutting paper to size, albeit a bit crooked. And did I mention that the boy picked a theme based on the meals of the Rock…which, in turn, required printed photos (another trip to CVS) and more cutting by mommy. But alas we finished it and mom glued the last pieces in place while the boy studied 60 Spanish phrases for his quiz tomorrow.
Isn’t it funny that, even as I age, school projects and the sounds of sports quickly bring me back to my childhood. Life is good. And I’m living a blessed life.
