Time is going so fast for us and suddenly fall is upon us. The boy finally got a nice break with school having good teachers and old friends. Middle school seems to be treating him well so far. Ladies, the fall dance is in October.
On the baseball front, the boy continues to work. Unfortunately, they lost last weekend to his old baseball team. Zach hit a moonshot that went foul, but was quiet otherwise. I asked afterward if he was upset and he simply said, ”no, I’ve got no reason to be.” This after his former coach came over to their dug out to say hi to kids and actively ignored Zachary. The car ride home was filled with forward looking talk and how to conduct yourself like a kind human, life lessons more important than wins and loses.
On Wed, Zach took the bump against Washington Township. His first inning was 8 for 11 strikes. First two kids didn’t swing. The second inning was a little tougher but he looked composed and in control after a monster hit. He only threw 25 pitches because of an upcoming tourney. On the way to the car, the ump came up and said wish you would have pitched longer, enjoyed calling you.
We know that growing up is a long and winding road for him. There will be up and down times, but the mark of good character lies in the ability to get back up and how you treat others. Zachary has both of those qualities, for sure. And that makes us, the most proud.
