Last week, we took a quick trip up to Boston to see history and visit family. It was a really fun couple of days.
It all started with my family coming to take care of the grandpups. Little Miss Mattie can be a handful with getting her to eat. My mom did an amazing job. Mattie ate each day and they all were well loved.
First up for us was a trip to Harvard. On a very hot day, we made the 2 mile walk to campus from our MIT area hotel. It did not disappoint. The campus featured a beautiful quad with plenty of space for students to enjoy.
We followed that up with a quick trip to their sports facilities. And lucky for us, the gates to the football stadium were open.
Next up, the Freedom Trail. Plenty to see and do on this day.
Our first stop was Paul Revere’s tomb, quickly followed by the Green Lantern, a popular meeting place of the rebels.
We also found Red near Faneuil Hall. There is so much history to see on the trail. We took it all in.
And then there was Fenway. An incredible experience. Extremely hot weather but boy was this fun. It included a jam pack t ride over to the stadium.
We enjoyed every minute of it.
The next morning. we arose early to see the Boston Garden and then headed over to Cheers. No Norm but still pretty cool to see.
In the afternoon, we took a tour of the USS Constitution, the oldest ship in the navy fleet. The tales that ship could tell. It’s lived a long and prosperous life
We ended our day near Nick and Alina’s sail boat. He graciously treated to a dusk trip in the dingy. Just an amazing time seeing the sunset over Boston on water. And he got us to the USS Constitution in time for their 8 pm canon blast.
Our last day started on a ship down by the Boston Tea Party. We joined a tour where they acted out what happened.
Next up was the Boston Science Museum with family. This was a really cool museum with lots of things to see and touch. Our trip ended with a family dinner to a tavern near the harbor. At one point, I looked around to see everyone talking and laughing. This really was the perfect balance of sightseeing and family.
