Week in Rewind: April 8

It seems that Spring time has arrived. Somebody needs to tell Mother Nature. It’s been cold, damp and windy. We managed to snap our yearly picture under the cherry tree. Oh how that picture has changed over the years. He now has to crouch down to fit under it. But we made it work.

Zach also got a really cool opportunity last Friday. He was selected along with Sam to ask a question to Clayton Kershaw. He was nervous but did awesome. Mustard then asked if they could use his image as part of their social media platform.

That was followed up by a member call with Clayton. He spent an hour answering questions. It was an amazing experience for them. Clayton has signed on to be a mentor for Mustard. I was really impressed with how great he was with them. Nice player wanting to “help the next generation” his word.

Speaking of helping, the boys worked on the new batting cage last weekend. The poles are up, just need the netting to go around it. It was a challenge putting up with the cold wind and rocky ground, but they did it.

Zach had a rough baseball week. At practice on Monday, he complained his arm hurt during warm ups. They kept him out in the outfield to prevent throwing. That, however, did not stop him from trying to hurt himself. When Ethan smashed a home run, he ran after it and ended up colliding with the fence full force. Needless to say, his night was over. The arm soreness continued for a couple of days but finally last night felt better. We really think he over did it digging holes and then didn’t properly warm up for practice. Of course running into a fence didn’t help. Let’s hope the pain stays away.
