Week in Rewind: Nov 12

So, it’s officially an end of an era for Zachary and his team. These guys have grown together for two seasons. And within that time, he’s formed some awesome friendships. Unfortunately, most of these kids will be playing for a different team next spring, including Zachary. He accept an invite to play with a local team, the Warriors. It’s been a little bit of a downer for him. He will know no one from this team, but we really didn’t have much of a choice. I think we made the best of a difficult situation. His new coach immediately recognized him and wanted him, as in a half hour of the try out we got an email. In better news, he’s also getting to meet boys that are on the other side of our school district so when they combine into the bigger school, he’ll know some of them. We’re proud of him. It’s scary going out on your own, but I’m sure he’ll be fine and meet wonderful new friends.

With that decision done, we once again submitted video for Tom House to review. Nothing says you are on the right track, then Tom saying, “son, you keep working and by high school, your mechanics are going to be, spot on.” And of course, there was the Jordan whooo when he saw his arm torque. It was well needed reminder, that you can be special if put the work in.

With that behind us, we decided to have some fun last weekend. We loaded up the bikes, and the pups, and headed to a local trail. Unfortunately, for daddy, his tire popped almost immediately. So, we did a run/walk trip, that while not as far as initially planned, was still fun.

We also went over to the in-laws to celebrate Mom Mom’s birthday. Zachary had fun playing with his cousin, two peas in a pod. We also had a nice visit with our Boston relatives. Pretty cool day with great company and food.

Someone found her second wind last week. After sleeping for the better part of a day, she awoke and was feeling feisty. As the pups ran past her, suddenly she took off and spinned and jived her way around the backyard. This fourteen year old hasn’t made these moves for years. Pretty cool to see.

So even though new eras begin, it’s always fun to reminisce about the past to understand how your building block past leads to a fun and enjoyable future.
