Week in Rewind

This definitely has been a fast week for us.

Someone celebrated a birthday by joining the old folks group. We kid, but he really does take good care of himself. Mike’s parents came over on Saturday to help celebrate. The coolest gift that he got was coins from the year he was born. The best gift, psychodelic PJs that really give his Superman PJs a run for the money. And yes, he did wear them this week.

The pups officially start with the trainer today. We’ve been working with them for the last week and half. It’s funny just when I think my “star pupil” has it all figured out….She gets in a mood and refuses to sit. Then there is the crazy guy. He started out with no intentions of staying when told to do so….now, he’s rocking that command. And, he’s really good with the sit command. But boy is he crazy walking in the park. He really does think that every dog, cat, person, bird, tree is his friend. This may be the friendliest dog we’ve ever had.

Today is also a big day for us. We finally get our Covid vaccine down by the Villas. It’s been a crazy week of waking up at 3:30 each morning to fight for an appointment at CVS. Yesterday, I tried from 4:00 until 5:00…gave up and rode my bike for an hour. When I came back upstairs, I almost didn’t check, but glad I did. Someone had posted that CVS was dropping more appointments at 6:15. Rather than staying on browsers, I opted to try their app. Bingo, like clockwork it let me in to schedule…by far, the farthest I had gotten in my search. Like a mad woman, I entered the data and I think, wisely, took a spot down by Cape May. It seems that a lot of Northern Jersey residents are heading down here. So, I went to one of the farthest points in NJ for them. Once I finished, I tried for the hubby. And to my shock, it let me in…again.

So off we head today to get our first shot. We’re getting the Moderna, which makes me a little more nervous. We’ve read that can cause more reaction than other vaccines, including Covid arm. But hey, I’m not complaining. It sure beats the anxiety of catching a really bad case of Covid. As Z said on our walk, “mom, now we can start to live a more normal life.” Yep buddy, there is light at the end of the tunnel.
