Cheech N Chong

To say the last few weeks have been an adventure would be an understatement. We are still settling into our life with two puppies.

And these two really could pass for any number of duo comedians….but I like to think they have some Cheech and Chong in them, without the drugs.

They are beginning to understand things a bit more clearly now. Go outside, get a nice dried turkey treat. Simple right. Not so much for Cheech and Chong. First up Cheech, aka Reecie, this clever little girl has figured out that if she squats not once, not twice….sometimes three, four times….and each time, daddy feeds her a treat. I’m pretty sure she’s not going four times in one outing. I mean, she is a pretty little thing…..That’s called working the system.

As for Chong, dear Chong, the big boy gets that he needs to go outside, but somehow still decides to let it flow inside. And then he proudly, points to daddy for his chicken treat. It’s as if he is proudly saying, see what I did daddy.

That my friends is the tip of the ice berg. Walks around the park have taken on a new meeting. The good boy has adapted very well to them. His only problem….he can’t walk in a straight line and he seems particularly interested in getting run over by the front wheel of the stroller. As for baby girl, let’s just say she is NOT a fan of her harness. With all four pounds of her determination, she makes it known that is not budging. Instead, she’s way more interested in biting her way out of the leash. Take that!

The manner that they all sit in the stroller is also different. Bella is front and center, patiently waiting until she spies a rival dog, or anything for that matter, to bark. Mattie, stuck in the back, is just praying she makes it out alive. And then there is Cheech and Chong. Inter-mixed between fearsome puppy fights and pushing for their spot up front next to Bella. But I have to say, the boy took it to a new level this week. He single handedly invented, stand on your back legs, peep through the top, and enjoy the view. Yes, he went around a good part of the back part in this position. And while people cooed and cawed in delight, the boy took it all in and was so very proud of himself.

This comedy duo really knows how to keep us on our toes I’d like to think they are a laugh a minute, except I now have to go outside, in the pouring rain, to reward them for their good potty deeds….lord help me, I really hope baby girl doesn’t squat four times.
