Pups

Last weekend, we finally picked up the pups from the breeder. We were delayed a week so we were more than ready. Off we went on a cooler Saturday morning to collect them.

First up, Reecie Pooh. When we last saw her, several weeks ago, I admit that I was scared because she didn’t look like the traditional blenheim cavalier. And worse, she was imbalanced with her colors, notice the big white side. Zachary was not deterred. He picked her up almost immediately. When we learned that she was in the same lineage as Trojan, well that sold the deal for him.

Boy has the baby girl changed her look. She now has the cutiest, little brown face, and a big white heart on her forehead. That’s a little ironic because I have long told Zachary that Uncle Larry leaves me hearts everywhere to communicate. I see them when I run all of the time at the park. As Zachary said, now Trojan is leaving you hearts.

This little girl definitely knows how to steal your heart. She was scared when Mike first picked her up, shaking. The ride home brought curiosity. Once home, she had to learn the lay of the land before becoming her true self. Her little growl sounds a lot like Trojan. And most importantly, she now pounces and attacks her brother like the strong girl that she is.

And then there is JuJu Bear. The last we saw him, he was the only pup trying to sneak his way out of the breeder’s dog pillow. When you looked at him, he had a deep, engaging look to him. Cunning if you will.

I’m happy to say that the little stinker hasn’t changed a bit. At the breeder, he pranced around her house like a prisoner released from captivity. A mile a minute is this one. When he arrived home, he ran around the back yard like he had been here for years. The house was his domain…never mind, that two older sisters were out to prove him otherwise. This is big boy that knows what he wants and isn’t afraid to go get it.

So life has changed a lot since they came home. Hard to believe that it’s already been a week. The quiet house that existed after Trojan died is replaced with little paws chasing each other. We’re back to square one teaching them, well everything. There is so much to explore when you are a pup. We had forgotten since our girls are so much older. It’s cute to watch them learn and try to figure things out. It’s a good reminder that the evolution in life, while sometimes hard, is a good thing. We definitely miss Trojan, but these two came to us in a time when life needs a little joy.

The best part, they seem to really like each other and have already attached to us. And a 10 year old, gets to experience the life of a puppy—and in this case, two puppies.
