There has been a lot of baseball the last few weeks. And the boy definitely has been working. This week, we added an old friend to his team. Z has played with him for two years and then we left our old team. Now, he is joining our team. Zachary couldn’t be happier.
On Tuesday, Zachary pitched and he looked fantastic. We talked after his last outing about confidence and not letting a bad outing get in his mind. Something definitely clicked. He finally looked like his old self. The best part was watching his own confidence grow.
We also talked at long lengths about problems and how not to get stuck with the issue, but rather to focus on solving it. So, we broke down different ways that he could work on his pitching. Divide and conquer approach.
The boy has also been working really hard to groove a new bat swing. Turns out, his hands have been too low which has been causing him to pop everything out. So out we go every night to work on not dropping those hands. It’s been hard, for sure, bad habits are hard to break. Slowly, he seems to be getting there, but not without the occasional frustration.
Life lessons. All of these are good for him to experience and tackle. The best part, he gets to do it with really good teammates.
This Sunday, we get to celebrate two big events. Trojan turning 15 and Zachary’s Gotcha Day. I’ll have more on those later. Need to be in the right frame of mind, because of those will be difficult to put into words. I just know that both of them mean the world to us and changed our lives.
