This week marks the 5th week in home isolation. We have settled into a nice routine. Mommy, still getting up early to run and walk the dogs. Daddy, working to his 80-90’s music in the upstairs bedroom, Zachary, the dogs and I downstairs managing homework and work. Once we ironed out the kinks it hasn’t been half bad. As for daddy’s music taste, that’s another thing entirely.
Grocery shopping is by far the worst part. We started with curbside pick up from the local grocery store. Not good is an understatement. We ended up with 1 bag of food, but did score toilet paper.
The next week, Mike went loaded with gloves, masks and glasses. He did much better at Sav A Lot. Never been, but they had darn good generic brownies. Would you like some Janet Evans cookies, yes please. And yes, Zachary figured out that “Frosted Flakes” were not General Mill and therefore no tiger. Thank goodness, ShopRite has been much better so we’ve been going there.
Then, we got lucky. A local food distributor opened their doors to the public. Yay, fresh fruit and vegetables. And it so organized. You basically drive up a truck, pop the trunk and they load it. Fresh strawberries, blueberries, cantaloupe makes this family happy.
Speaking of blue berries, we made a quick run to Hammonton for blueberry plants. Four different varieties. Now if only this cold weather would lift.
That same day, we made a quick run to Ocean City to check on the house. Happy to report all was well, but it was so weird to see the boardwalk and beaches closed.
Zachary has been busy with school. Really cool to see how the teachers have made online learning so seamless. He’s been learning about the American Revolution. In that spirit, we’ve been listening to the Hamilton musical. As one would expect, the boy’s favorite song is You’ll Be Back sang by King George. And to be fair, it is a really cute song. Do you see a similarity.
Stay safe everyone.
