Uncle Larry

This weekend, we are hosting our 2nd Annual Three on Three Tournament to raise funds for Larry’s scholarship.

As they say, it takes a village. Unfortunately, we started this journey losing important parts of the village. A superintendent that moved on, an AD that retired, and a young coach that quit. Basically, the school is undergoing a transition. And that worried me because we had a ton of support from the old guard who knew Larry.

In his spirit, we pushed on. My parents did an amazing job of finding local sponsorships. We hit up the local media. Made contact with surrounding schools.

And just when it seemed that all was lost, teams started to register. So much so that we now stand at 12 teams, doubling last year’s efforts. Most impressive, we have teams in the Grade 6-8, high school and open age group divisions. Boys and girls..and from cross town rivals!

Exciting stuff for a grass root effort. Larry is smiling up above, that I am sure. What a wonderful legacy to promote. The man, the myth, the legend proving to kids that handicaps can be overcome with the right attitude.

Sharing his love for basketball to give kids an educational opportunity..price less.
