Life Lessons

It’s been an up and down season pitching for Zachary. We started the year confident and on a role. By mid season, he had taken some lumps. The last few outings have been tough to watch. The boy is struggling mightily. Balls all over the place and the boy looks like he’s loss his mojo.

Last week, we had a neighbor kid who pitched come over to coach him up. And we were hopeful that he was back on track. But today, the boy took a bad beating, giving up 10 runs..some good hitting, others balls. It broke this mom’s heart.

I’m not gonna lie, it’s tough to watch your son fail. It wounds you to the core to watch them struggle. And that makes me sad. But as we talked on the way home, it dawned on me, it’s okay to fail. Isn’t that part of growing up? As much as I’d like for his life to be rosy and never an issue, we all know that’s not the case. In the marathon of life, this might just be what he needs to learn. Adversity, and how to deal and work around it.

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.
