Baseball

Last Sunday, the boy finished his last pitching clinic.  It was a day of competition.  And when all the boys lined up in three lines to pitch, the coach put Zachary in his line.

After two rounds to see who could throw the most strikes, it came down to Z and another boy.  With everyone watching, the first boy threw 5 strikes out of 8 pitches.  5 out of 8, that’s a lot for this age and I wondered how Zachary would handle it.  This boy never disappoints.   He calmly took his position, wound up, and threw 6 strikes.  Win to Zachary

The part that makes me most proud, he shook the other kid’s hand , hugged the coach, grabbed his prize and readied himself for the next event,  Not showy, work man like.

When we got in the car to go home, that’s when the excitement came out   I said, were you nervous.  His response says everything about him   “My heart felt like it was going to jump out of my chest”   I have no idea how an 8 year old boy has that most control, somehow he feeds off of that pressure and settles in, it’s remarkable really

Here’s to facing your fears…and conquering them!
