Sunday started early for us, up at 6 and out the door. By 9, the game had started. It was a close battle but we were winning 5-2. And then the 5th inning came, our pitcher struggled walking the bases and then allowing a triple. With two outs, he continued to struggle, loading the bases again. When out ran the coach, Z was called in to close the inning. He got the batter to pop up to him…and mommy breathed a sigh of relief. Who knew how stressful watching your kids play can be, especially in those moments. The boy has serious composure
Now done by one run, we needed a quick 6th inning to avoid the 2 hour time limit. Z did his job, a quick strike out…but then disaster struck. The short stop missed an easy pop up. Z then walked two more batters…and got the next batter to pop up to him again…unfortunately, time was called for the 2 hours.
We took one on the chin, but the boys should learn from it. It’s always about learning and growing. This tournament allowed for non stop base stealing, which the boys struggled with a bit. So Monday’s practice, situational moments and what to do with the ball, gotta love these coaches. They do a great job with the boys.
