Basebsll is really keeping us hopping. On Monday, Z played his Championship Game that was initially cancelled because of cold weather.
They played the All Out B Team. It was a tight game, with Z going two for two batting. He’s finally hitting the ball with some power. But as I told him, it has to be disclipned power. The boy likes the high heat but that’s usually a strike out or weakly hit ball. Thank goodness, he laid off the high heat
As the game came down to the 6th inning, Z took the mound with the score 4-2., with our team winning. We’ve been working a lot on his pitching mechanics…but they are still pretty raw…so mommy was pretty nervous..this is tougher than playing, lol
The boy was magical. The first batter hit a pop up to centerfield, which by some miracle was caught. Z struke down the next two batters with pretty darn good pitches for a 7 year old. We couldn’t have been prouder of him. Three up—-Three down, to win the game…and most importantly he wasn’t wild
On the ride home, he said something that made me even prouder. I had told him on the way to the game to be confident, and at SC, we have a saying, “Act Like You’ve Been There” And I went on to say it means that no moment is to be to big for you, because you have prepared and have confidence in yourself.
He said, mommy I was a little nervous when Coach said I was pitching, but I remembered you said, Act Like You’ve Been There and I just focused on throwing. Spoken like a true Trojan!
