Baseball

This week was the official start of baseball.  We couldn’t be happier with the decision to go with the travel team instead of Little League.  He’s going to learn this year and the discipline is fabulous.  It’s all about the fundamentals.

On Monday, he was indoors working the batting cages

Friday was outdoors working on fielding and pitching…yes, I said pitching   They picked three kids to pitch and Z is one of them…the boy has had a strong throw since, well forever.  On Friday, he threw a dime to the coach from the outfield.  Coach Jeff, said wow, he just made it from out there…to which Coach Dale, said which one, Zach?

I have to admit, I was nervous for him to pitch their first scrimmage this weekend.  Why, you might ask…because as of Saturday morning, he threw like the Wild Thing

But we worked on getting a wind up pitch rather than shot putting it, something haven’t done since last fall.    And on game day, the boy pitched first with one strike out, a ground ball out and a walk resulting in the coach pitching…not a bad start….but definitely room for improvement

Now, we just have to get that bat going.  He had a nice zinger to the SS who ended up dropping it, and that got their cycle going and a 5 run inning which gave them the win.
