Grit

This weekend Z competes in his 2nd karate championship. And we couldn’t be more proud.  He’s the only 6 year old blue belt doing Form 5. And it really is a testament to the work he has put into it.

We’ve spent the last week talking about confidence and grit.  What they are finding is that high intelligence and natural talent is not the only measuring stick for success.  There is something called Grit.  Grit is about the grind and desire to be successfully, the person that puts in the work.  As I’ve told Z, you’re lucky to have intelligence and talent…we just need to keep refining it with grit

So as we enter this tournament, I really don’t care if he comes home with a trophy (although we want his expectation there)…I’m much more proud with how much grit he has worked on the last few days
