Those first moments were a bit rough, for sure. We had arrived early at the agency, settled in a room with no windows and patiently waited. Nervousness and anticipation all rolled up into one hot mess. Then the door opened, in walked our son, life never to be the same.
It’s weird thinking back on those days. A child we didn’t know, about to travel with us to America. How brave this little boy. What a leap of faith by his birth mother. How determined we were to make his life special.
Today, we know every fiber of his being. A well rounded four year old, who is wise beyond his years. He can be stubborn as a mule. Quick with a funny glance. Loving to the core. He’s surrounded by great friends and family. Still has part of his culture: Korean tutor and karate.
He’s an amazing little boy.
