Today we got up very early to do The Walks of Italy tour. Well worth the money to see the Sistine Chapel before the general masses. We quickly made our way to that area. And what a treat it offered. In a word, awe inspiring. To think Michelangel was there and gave his talents is incredible. We learned that he fought with the Pope of his nude rendition, but in the end he won and was right.
We then headed to the Vatican museum. Relics from ancient times. Our guide even showed us relics that he helped dig in Pompeii. Crazy, no.
We ended with St Peters. While not Catholic, you couldn’t helped but be moved. We even headed into a private pray room for a quiet moment. I sat there reflecting on how lucky I am and praising God for the opportunity.
Our tour guide was amazing. And it went quickly. The funny part, a couple from our group were from SC. Small world indeed
As the tour ended, we took the opportunity to do the Dome, elevator and then steps to the top. Crazy to think that you are inside it. The views were incredible, but very crowded. It was a fire sale to get down.
By then, someone was very hungry. And it was that time that I realized that I need snacks for my second kid. We rushed to a street with food and had lunch served u by some traditional Italians. And, of course, we had to have a Gelato. Why is that do good and served on every street corner???
We walked back to the hotel. Made a quick change and headed to the park for a bike ride. Somehow we ended up on a tandom and Mama was non-to-happy with someone’s driving. We laughed doll over the park. And even inspired a group of young girls to give it a go.
