It’s a New Year– It’s A New Life

Mike and I rang in the New Year rather quietly.  We got up early on New Year’s Eve and headed for home.  After 9 hours of driving, we safely made it.  It is always a tough day for me.  Sad to leave my parents–happy to be in our home.  As the last of 2010 evaporated, I couldn’t help to think what a strange journey that we are on.  It is at once exhilerating and terrifying.  So many unknowns.  Will the child be healthy?  Happy? Bond with us? Love us?  There really is a leap of faith on both sides of the equation.

If there is one thing that I have learned in life, you can only control what you can control.  So, with a little faith, we take one step at a time.  Today, we went to immigration for our final fingerprints.  It went very smoothly and we were in and out in less than a half our.  It was nice to hear, good luck with your adoption as each of us finished up the fingerprinting process.
